Warehouse Operative, (Industrial)
Job Description
Job Purpose
To support the efficient operation of the warehouse by carrying out a range of manual handling and stock-related tasks including goods in, goods out, stock movement, and general warehouse maintenance in line with company procedures and health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Goods In – Receive deliveries, check quantities against delivery notes, report discrepancies, and store items in appropriate locations.
Order Picking – Accurately pick products as per order requirements using pick sheets or handheld devices.
Packing and Dispatch – Pack orders securely and prepare for dispatch, ensuring correct labelling and documentation.
Stock Movement – Move stock around the warehouse using manual handling techniques and mechanical aids (e.g., pallet trucks).
Inventory Management – Assist with stock takes, cycle counts, and maintaining accurate stock records.
Housekeeping – Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the warehouse, ensuring safe walkways and correct storage.
Health & Safety – Follow all safety procedures and report any hazards, incidents, or near misses to supervisors.
Teamwork – Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
Skills & Experience Required
Basic numeracy and literacy skills (reading order forms, checking quantities).
Ability to work on feet for extended periods and lift items up to [insert weight limit] safely.
Previous warehouse or manual handling experience preferred but not essential.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and meeting productivity targets.
Forklift licence (desirable but not required unless specified).
Working Conditions
